Band Room to Recording Studio / Show 471
About
Today’s episode is dominated by instruments you’d find in a high school band room and many of our featured teen artists discovered their musical passion through school music programs. We are treated to rich performances on tuba, trombone, marimba, and saxophone. Plus a wonderful violinist who has lived all over the world performs Debussy.
In Memory of Mary Deissler
Today’s program is dedicated to Mary Deissler, our friend, colleague, and teacher. Mary was a force in the classical music world who believed in making music accessible for everyone. She led and contributed to great work at From the Top, and to countless organizations such as Boston Landmarks Orchestra, the LA Phil, Handel & Haydn Society, Charlotte Symphony, Chanticleer, Chorus America, Shelter Music Boston, and Artis-Naples just to name a few.
This program is for Mary’s family, and her colleagues and friends at organizations around the world who miss her.
