Meet Abigail

Abigail will perform on Show 469.

Abigail Regua (violin), 18, divides her time between California and the Philippines. She is currently a high school senior at the Idyllwild Arts Academy in Idyllwild, California, studying with Dr. Todor Pelev. Abigail had a young start on the violin while in kindergarten, after her neighbors offered her the use of an instrument. At the age of 9, she fully committed to her art and has been dedicated ever since.

Abigail has had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses led by Anne Sophie Mutter, Sherry Kloss, Jessica Lee, and Julianne Lee. She is an alumnus of the Sphinx Performance Academy and a recipient of a 2023 Sphinx MPower Grant. Also in 2023, she was selected as a student and ambassador at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute, where she was given the opportunity to perform as concertmaster of the Young Artists Orchestra. She was a finalist in the 2023 Idyllwild Arts Academy Concerto Competition and is a current member of the 2024 Fortissima Program run by the Colburn School. Fortissima is an artistic and leadership development program aimed at empowering young women of color in classical music.

Outside of music, Abigail enjoys nature photography, watching indie films, and making lattes. She is treasurer of her school’s National Honor Society (NHS) chapter and a tutor for the Do Re Mi Project, a youth-run nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting elementary and middle school students with high school students for free online music tutoring.

Receiving the Award will support Abigail by covering her college audition travel and lodging expenses. The funds will also support Abigail in an instrument upgrade that will serve her well through her college years and into the professional field.
