Meet Torsten
Torsten performed on Show 411.
Torsten Fras (harpsichord), 14, hails from Haverford, Pennsylvania, and is in the ninth grade at the Shipley School. Torsten began taking piano lessons when he was five and started studying harpsichord six years later under the guidance of Dr. Anna Kislitsyna at the Nelly Berman School of Music. Since then, he has been awarded a variety of prizes from competitions, including the Boulder Bach Society’s World Bach Competition, the French International Music Competition, the Canadian International Music Competition, Kings Peak International Music Competition, Charleston International Music Competition, the Rocky Mountain International Competition, and the Moscow International Music Competition. He has attended masterclasses given by Catalina Vicens at Brandywine Baroque, Arthur Haas at Amherst Early Music Festival, and Joseph Gascho at the University of Michigan Early Keyboard Institute. He also founded the Main Line Baroque Society. Outside of music, Torsten enjoys reading, playing tennis and squash, traveling, and watching movies on the weekends with his family.
