Katrina Franco (soprano), 18, hails from San Francisco, California, and is a senior at San Francisco University High School. She studies classical voice with Christine Abraham at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College Division. She won awards in regional, national, and international voice competitions, including the National YoungArts Competition, Schmidt Vocal Competition (California), King’s Peak International Music Competition, Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition, NATS (San Francisco Bay Area Chapter), Bay Area Creative Foundation, Pacific Musical Society Competition, Bellagrande International Music Competition, ENKOR International Music Competition, and the Hal Leonard Vocal Competition. In addition to classical voice, Katrina frequently crosses over to musical theater. She has studied acting and musical theater with the American Conservatory Theater’s Young Conservatory Program since 2013, performing in their Middle and High School Cabaret Ensembles and appearing in mainstage productions. Some of her favorite roles include Penelope Pennywise in Urinetown, Marcy Park in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods, Anna in Spring Awakening, and Jane Doe in Ride the Cyclone. Aside from performing, Katrina is also a conductor and music arranger. In her spare time, Katrina enjoys dancing, creative writing, and fundraising for AAPI organizations.
