Ajay Mallya (violin), 19, is from New York, New York where he is a freshman at Columbia University as part of the Columbia-Juilliard Exchange Program. He currently studies violin with Masao Kawasaki, and was formerly taught by Ms. Zhao Wei through the pre-collegiate division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Some of Ajay’s musical highlights include performing with the National Youth Orchestra of the USA, and founding and leading the Bravo Strings Program, which raises funds to teach classical string instruments to underserved middle school students in Silicon Valley. Outside of his passions for music and community service, Ajay is interested in financial economics, data science, machine learning, running, and soccer.
