Daily Joy: Elgar Cello Concerto
While 15-year-old Carson Ling-Efird played cello on this week’s episode of NPR’s From the Top, she’s also an accomplished composer and pianist!
For today’s Daily Joy, here is Carson’s passionate performance of the Elgar Cello Concerto where she plays both the cello and the piano.
Carson Ling-Efird (cello) 15, is from Seattle, Washington and is in the tenth grade at Ballard High School. Carson is not only a cellist, but also a composer and pianist. She currently studies with Seattle Symphony cellist Nathan Chan and collaborative pianist Dr. Li-Tan Hsu. She also studies composition with Sharon Van Valin, and piano with Helena Azevedo. Carson made her solo debut with the Seattle Symphony at the age of 12 and her international solo debut with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra Youth in 2020. Outside of playing and composing music, Carson’s interests include dancing, traveling, and listening to K-pop and C-pop.
