Daily Joy: Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 27 (Mvt. 1)
Beethoven referred to his Piano Sonata No. 27 as a battle between “head and heart.” When you hear the range of expression we think you’ll see why!
For today’s Daily Joy, we’re sharing a fantastic performance of this work by 17-year-old Joshua Mhoon.
Joshua Mhoon (piano), 17, is from Chicago, Illinois and attends the Whitney Young Magnet High School. He studies piano at Chicago’s Merit School of Music. Joshua has performed at the historical inauguration of Chicago’s first black female mayor at Wintrust Area, at Carnegie Hall with the National Youth Orchestra and in Miami with the New World Symphony. He was one of ten young pianists worldwide to be selected to study with renowned concert pianist Lang Lang. In his free time, Joshua enjoys playing baseball and basketball, hanging out with friends, playing video games, and building his stock market portfolio.
