Stravinsky in Space Competition


No, we are in fact NOT sending musicians into space for an intergalactic concerto competition. We discussed the possibilities, but unfortunately the Intergalactic Alliance has since disbanded due to heated disagreements regarding what kind of cheese was best for moon construction.

2016 Cooper International Competition

Location: Cleveland, OH

Competition Dates: July 14–23, 2016

This competition, a joint project started in 2010 by the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Orchestra and sponsored by Thomas and Evon Cooper, alternates annually between violin and piano. This is your lucky year, pianists! This a wonderful opportunity for outstanding high school students to win a variety of cash prizes and perform with the legendary Cleveland Orchestra. 11th Aeolus International Competition for Wind Instruments

Location: Düsseldorf, Germany
Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba
Ages: Any musician born on or after January 1, 1988

Competition Dates: September 13–18, 2016

For those brass enthusiasts yearning for an international experience, this competition is organized by the Sieghardt Rometsch Stiftung, an organization dedicated to fostering young international talent from around the globe. Winners of this competition have gone on to musical careers with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and the Russian National Symphony, to name a few!
