Meet Xuanbo

Xuanbo Dong appeared on Show 164, recorded in August 2007, at age 17.

Xuanbo Dong (oboe), 16, a native of China and student at Idyllwild Arts Academy in California, began playing music at the age of five. His father, the principal oboist in the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, started Xuanbo on the piano then switched to oboe when he turned 11. When he is not playing music, Xuanbo enjoys studying history, government and philosophy. This summer he is attending the Aspen Music Festival.

Xuanbo is a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist.
