Meet Quincy

Quincy performs on Show 450.

Quincy Eby (viola), 17, from Englewood, New Jersey, began his musical journey at the age of five as a violinist under the guidance of Dorothy Kaplan Roffman, the Executive Director of the Thurnauer School of Music. Quincy currently studies viola with Molly Carr and Yi-Fang Huang at Juilliard’s pre-college program.

Quincy is a 2024 Sphinx Competition Semi-Finalist and was a Finalist in the 2023 Adelphi Concerto Competition. He was the 2022 winner of the Kutztown International Music Festival’s concerto competition and made his international debut with the University of Macedonia’s Orchestra in Greece in the Spring of 2023. Quincy is a founding member of the award-winning Thurnauer Quartet coached by Francesca Silos. In 2021 the quartet won a gold medal at the Young Maestro International Music Competition, and in 2022, they were the recipients of the Grand Prize. In 2023, the quartet were quarter-finalists at Fischoff. Quincy has also received the New Jersey Governor’s Award in Arts Education and has received gold and silver medals in the classical instrument category and the bronze medal for vocal classical performance from the NAACP Act-So program.

Quincy is always looking for ways to share his music with others and has received a bronze medal for outstanding community service as part of the President’s National Youth Volunteer Service Recognition Program. After graduating from Dwight Englewood School where he is currently a senior, Quincy plans to attend a conservatory to continue his musical studies.
