Nathan Shepherd (bassoon), 15, hails from Lanesville, Indiana. He is homeschooled and studies bassoon with Matthew Karr, Francisco Joubert, and Roger Soren. Nathan will be performing with the National Youth Orchestra in their 2021 summer program and was also a member of their NYO2 program. He was a prizewinner in the 2020 Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Louisville Orchestra Concerto competitions. Nathan has been the principal bassoonist of the University of Louisville Wind Ensemble and the Indiana All-State Orchestra. Outside of music, Nathan is passionate about visual design, including calligraphy and hand lettering as well as creating logos and visual identities.
