Matthew Dykeman appeared on Show 199, recorded in June 2009, at age 17.
Program bio from Show 199:
Matthew Dykeman (clarinet), 17, was exposed to music at an early age by his mother, who is a music teacher. He is now a senior at the Baltimore School for the Arts (BSFA) near his hometown of Arnold, MD where he studies with David Drosinos. Matthew sits as principal clarinet in the Chesapeake Youth Symphony and is a member of the BSFA Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. He also plays both clarinet and saxophone in his older brothers’ Indie rock band, Plans Plans. Matthew will use his Young Artist Award to purchase two new clarinets for when he attends a music conservatory in the fall.
