Andrew Barnwell, piano
Meet Andrew
ANDREW BARNWELL began his piano studies in Massachusetts at age seven, but has since moved many times with his family, most recently relocating from Seattle to Boston. In Seattle, he was the pianist for Lake City Christian Church and a co-director of a non-profit organization, Instruments for Change, which promoted music in the community. He was also a member of his high school’s Wind Ensemble, with which he performed Rhapsody in Blue. Andrew won both the 2014 and 2015 Chopin Northwest Festivals, as well as the Bainbridge Island Concerto Competition, resulting in his debut with the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra in April 2015. For two summers, he attended Morningside Music Bridge, a Canadian summer program that in 2014 presented him with the Stuart Holland Memorial Award. Andrew is a freshman at the New England Conservatory – where he is also the student manager of the Preparatory School’s piano seminars – and studies with Professor Victor Rosenbaum.
