Alexandra Yeoh (viola), 17, is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is Australian-born and began her musical studies at age five. Alexandra is a high school senior at Interlochen Arts Academy (IAA) in Michigan, and is enrolled in the Classical Performance major program in the studio of Renee Skerik. Prior to studying with Dr. Skerik, Alexandra studied with Professor Jeffrey Irvine at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) and was enrolled in the Young Artist Program (YAP) in her junior year of high school. Before attending IAA, Alexandra was Principal Violist of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (COYO) in 2022-2023, Principal Violist of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO) Philharmonic in 2021-2022, and a section member of CSYO in 2020-2021. She enjoys chamber music and has played in various chamber ensembles. Alexandra has won prizes in numerous local and international competitions and has participated in several prominent music festivals and summer programs. Most recently, she was awarded first place in the 2023 Ohio Viola Society Competition for Young Violists (High School Division). She has also volunteered her time as a church musician and in the community, playing in assisted living residences, hospitals, after-school programs, and benefit concerts. As a global citizen who has lived in five countries to date, her goal is to experience new cultures and connect with people from all walks of life through music.
