Meet Julia
JULIA CARABATSOS, 17, has been playing violin since she was five. She is a senior at Milton Academy, where she is art editor of the literary magazine, a social justice peer educator, a writing tutor, and concertmaster of the chamber orchestra. This is her fourth year as a member of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra at New England Conservatory Preparatory School. Julia traveled with YPO to Argentina in 2013 and to Iceland in 2015. Also at NEC, Julia participates in chamber music, and volunteers with the youngest string orchestra, of which Julia was a member eight years ago when she started attending NEC Prep. In 2013 and in 2014, Julia attended Greenwood Music Camp. Julia is a student of Magdalena Richter. Besides music, Julia loves reading (and re-reading) Jane Austen novels, visiting art museums, drawing, and listening to the Beatles.
