From the Top heads down south, this time to the Alys Stephens Center at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where you’ll meet outstanding musicians from 10 to 17. You’ll hear a local teen performing two movements from the Cello Sonata by George Crumb and a 15-year-old from Austin, Texas performing from Ibert’s Concertino da Camera for saxophone. Also, Roving Reporter Caeli Smith joins that young saxophone player to deliver a hard-hitting report on the implosion of the much-lauded Mozart effect.
