This week, From the Top is at Interlochen Arts Academy presenting some of the outstanding young musicians who study there. Among today’s exceptional performances, you’ll hear a wind serenade conducted by a talented teen and the amazing finale from Stravinsky’s Firebird played by the Academy’s orchestra. Also, the sections of the orchestra are pitted together in a cutthroat round of Musical Jeopardy.

Mostly Winds (conductor Matthew Szymanski, 17; oboists Melissa Hooper and Nathan Mills; clarinetists Gabriel Campos and Sarah Galvin; bassoonists Noah Brown and Ryan Reynolds; French horn players Beth Deering, Craig Hubbard and Caleb Kulfan; cellist Hannah Robbins; and double bassist Julian Anderson) perform Serenade for Winds and Strings, Op. 44, 4th mvt. by Anton Dvorak
Mezzo soprano Laura Mixter, 18, from Naples, FL, performs “Va, Laisse couler mes larmes” from Werther by Jules Massenet
The Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra performs the Berceuse and Finale from “The Firebird Suite” by Igor Stravinksy
