Meet Juyoung
JUYOUNG SONG, 16, is a rising junior at Newton North High School and has been playing the violin since she was five. She is currently studying with Lynn Chang at NEC and enjoys playing orchestral, chamber, and solo repertoire. Juyoung has placed in multiple competitions including winning first place in the 2013 MMTA Bay State Contest and third place in the 2014 Cremona International Music Competition. Additionally, she teaches and mentors younger violin students and recently completed a year as a musician at From the Top’s Art Leadership program in Boston. She is a member of NEC’s Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and toured Iceland in June. Also this summer, she learned software engineering at Twitter; when she is not playing the violin, she plays volleyball and skies on her high school’s ski team.
