This week, From the Top comes to you from one of the South’s premier concert venues, Spivey Hall at Clayton College just outside Atlanta. Spivey Hall’s distinguished Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ, known as the “Rose Bowl of concert organs,” is put through its paces by a 16-year-old and we hear a performance by a remarkable children’s choir. We also hear two soloists from the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and a remarkable 11- year-old pianist from Pennsylvania.

Violist Kate Hedin, 17, of Atlanta, GA performs Suite Hebraique by Ernest Bloch

Organist Owen Cannon, 16, of Pendleton, OR, performs Finale from Symphony No. 2 by Joseph Widor

Host Christopher O’Riley performs from “Apollo” by Igor Stravinsky

Trumpet player Michael Whealy, 17, of Marietta, GA performs Fantasie Brillante by Jean-Baptiste Arban

The Spivey Hall Children’s Choir performs the traditional Salve Regina
