Meet Lydia

Lydia performed on Show 411.

Lydia Hanje (trumpet), 17, hails from Vestavia Hills, Alabama and is a recipient of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. She began playing trumpet in sixth grade as a student of Harry McAfee, and later, Kevin Fitzgerald. She is currently a student of Ken Larson at the Interlochen Arts Academy, and a YoungArts 2020 and 2021 Merit Award winner. Lydia began her orchestral experience as a member of the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra and now performs in the ensembles at the Interlochen Arts Academy. She was a member of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra (NYO2) in 2021, and previously attended Interlochen Arts Camp where she performed in the World Youth Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble. Outside of music, Lydia likes to cook, roller skate, play volleyball, and spend time with friends and family.
