Julin performs on Show 429.
Julin Cheung (flute), 16, lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and studies with Jeffrey Khaner at the Curtis Institute of Music. Previously, in Seattle, he was privileged to learn from Demarre McGill, Jeffrey Barker, and Zart Dombourian-Eby. Julin joined the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra flute section when he was nine. He soon participated in the Galway Flute Festival, where he collaborated with some of the most accomplished flute players in the world. Since then, Julin has won a number of local and international awards, notably first prize in Severino Gazzelloni International Flute Competition, Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia National Collegiate Competition, Classical KING FM Young Artist, as well as Seattle Symphony and Vancouver Symphony Young Artists awards. Julin was a part of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra (NYO2) in the summer of 2022. He has participated in masterclasses and workshops with Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway, Donna Shin, Jennifer Rhyne, Mimi Stillman, Carolyn Christie, Francesco Loi, Davide Formisano, Kersten McCall, Daniel Matsukawa, Erica Peel, Chelsea Knox, Judy Dines, and Anthony McGill. Outside of music, Julin enjoys hiking, skiing, camping, learning about photography, and playing video games with his cousins.
