Meet Dennis
Dennis performed on Show 411.
Dennis Eum (cello), 17, from Edina, Minnesota is a senior at the Blake School in Minneapolis and is a recipient of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. He studies cello with Mina Fisher and is co-principal cellist of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS) Symphony orchestra. This past year, he was selected as the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Young People’s Symphony Concert Association (YPSCA) Concerto Competition, which resulted in the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra. Dennis has participated in masterclasses with Peter Wiley, Alban Gerhardt, Philip Borter, and Simona Barbu, and has won significant awards and scholarships through competitions hosted by the YPSCA, Thursday Musical, Mary West, the Schubert Club, and more. He loves performing in any environment, whether for his neighbors in the yard or professionally on the stage. Outside of music, Dennis is an avid debater and software developer. He enjoys talking about government policies, especially in the context of technology, and creating useful programs to support education accessibility. In his free time, he loves cuddling with his cat, Semo, and reading books.
