Meet Sean

Sean Mouzon, 16, is from Stonecrest, GA. Currently in his junior year, Sean balances his education as a hybrid student through homeschooling and attending classes at Southwest DeKalb High School. His passion for music began at an early age. By the age of nine, Sean joined his school’s band and chose the French horn – a decision that set him on an extraordinary musical journey.

Sean currently serves as Section Leader at Southwest Dekalb High School and plays mellophone and marching French horn in the school’s marching band. He has also participated in Honor Band, All State, and JanFest – hosted by the University of Georgia. His teachers and mentors have included esteemed musicians such as Anthony Pickard, James Seda, William May, Trayon Hall, Richard Williams, Ryan Little, and his current instructor, Andrew Burhans.

In the summer of 2023, Sean was honored to be accepted into the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Talent Development Program (TDP), where he continues to refine his technique and artistry. He is a proud member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, and has also performed with the Atlanta University Orchestra. Sean’s passion and drive have led him to participate in the Atlanta Music Project, Precision Band Camp, Georgia Mass Band, the Governor’s Honors Program (GHP 61), and Florida A&M University’s Summer Band Camp.

Beyond music, Sean enjoys gaming, skating, tennis, and Marvel movies. He plans to pursue a college education in music and a career as a professional French horn player.

Receiving the Tim Banker Talent Development Award will ensure Sean’s continued participation in his current music programs and ensembles, and will further support his music education by covering additional training, travel and tuition at summer music programs, as well as the opportunity for Sean to network and take consultation lessons with prospective college professors.
