Ryan Murphy appeared most recently on Show 176, recorded in March 2008, at age 15.
RYAN MURPHY is a student of Miriam Fried in the New England Conservatory/Harvard College dual degree program. As a soloist, Ryan was named Runner-Up in the Stradivarius International Violin Competition, and was a semifinalist in the Corpus Christi International Competition for Strings, Stulberg International String Competition, and Cooper International Violin Competition. Additionally, Ryan has soloed with many orchestras in the Chicago area as winner of their concerto competitions. An avid chamber musician, Ryan’s groups have won national competitions. Ryan has also been a Young Artist at the Sarasota Music Festival and the Kniesel Hall Chamber Music Festival and is a From the Top alum. Ryan studied Chemistry and Physics at Harvard and is currently a lab member of the Nocera Group, which researches inorganic chemistry applications to renewable energy.
