Youth Symposium | Music and the Brain

Looking to explore career paths that combine your love for music with science?
Join us in person to meet other like-minded musicians to explore the fascinating field of music and neuroscience.
Event Details:
- WHAT: A day of learning, connection, and inspiration
- WHEN: Sunday, March 16 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM (lunch will be provided), Confirmed attendees should arrive by 9:30 AM.
- WHERE: Cammilleri Hall at the Brain and Creativity Institute, USC University Park Campus

- COST: FREE!
What to Expect:
- Discussions with Leading Experts: Music educators, music therapists, university researchers, and other musicians will lead discussions about the science of music and its impact on brain development and well-being.
- Presentations by Young Musicians: Young musicians chosen by From the Top for a unique fellowship on music and the brain will share progress on their research projects, developed with USC’s Brain and Creativity Institute.
- Networking and Exploration: Peer break-outs during meals and throughout the day to network and explore.
This event is free to young musicians ages 13-21! However, capacity is limited, and registrants are asked to commit to attending the full day.

PARKING AND DROP-OFF INFORMATION
Campus Entrance:
Enter through the McClintock Avenue & Jefferson Blvd entrance. This is the only open vehicle entrance; other gates will be closed.
Dropping-Off:
- Enter through the McClintock Avenue & Jefferson Blvd entrance.
- Stop at the entrance access gate right after you enter campus. Present your USC Guest Registration with QR code and your valid ID.
- Continue driving straight on McClintock Avenue.
- Once at the Downey Way intersection, make a left.
- You will see a parking lot to your left. Pull into this parking lot.
- Pass the first left, make the second left.
- Before making the next left, drop off your passenger here.
- Directly across from you, you will see a pathway heading up to the Brain and Creativity Institute (BCI), Cammilleri Hall.
- Walk up this pathway until you see BCI on your left. There will be a shiny metal post out front.
- When you get to the door, check in with the registration table.
Parking Location:
Parking is available at the Downey Way Parking Structure. Please follow these steps to ensure a smooth arrival:

Parking Payment:
USC has implemented a cashless parking system. Upon arrival at the Downey Way Parking Structure:
- Park in any unmarked space.
- Locate the Text2Park signage near the elevator or stairwell.
- Text the location code provided on the signage to 25023.
- Follow the prompts to complete your payment using your mobile phone and a credit card.
- Please ensure you enter your license plate information correctly, as the system uses License Plate Reader (LPR) technology for enforcement.
Walking Directions to Cammilleri Hall from the Downey Way Parking:
- After parking, exit the structure and head east on Downey Way.
- Turn left onto the covered pedestrian walkway adjacent to the Seeley G. Mudd building.
- Continue along the walkway until you see the Brain and Creativity Institute on your left.
- Event signage and staff will be available to guide you.
