From the Top heads to the Cleveland Institute of Music to find a trio of teen siblings with a thing for strings, transcendental music by Liszt, a trombonist with “Thoughts of Love,” a teenage percussionist, and the healing sounds of a violinist with compassion.

Violinist Alena Merimee, 15, from Strongsville, OH performs Allegro from Violin Sonata No. 5 in F major (“Spring”), Op. 24 by Ludwig Van Beethoven

Marimba player Joshua Jones, 16, from Chicago, IL performs Rhythm Song by Paul Smadbeck

Pianist Daniel Song, 9, from Springfield, PA performs Transcendental Etude No. 7 in Eb major by Franz Liszt

Trombonist Joseph Hudson, 15, from Lexington, KY performs Thoughts of Love by Arthur Pryor

The “Playing Hoopes” Trio, featuring Alexandra Hoopes, 15, violin; Chad Hoopes, 13, violin; and Anna Hoopes, 17, viola, from Shaker Heights, OH plays the fifth movement from Serenade for Two Violins & Viola by Zoltan Kodaly.
