This week, special guest and master cellist, Janos Starker, joins From the Top from the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. We meet an exuberant crew of eleven violinists who call themselves the “Violin Virtuosi,” play a round of our game “Maestro Makeover” with a brilliant 13-year-old pianist, and Janos Starker will perform a gorgeous cello duet with his only teenage student.

Cellists Janos Starker and Ana Kim perform Sonata for Two Cellos in C Major, 1st mvt. by Luigi Boccherini

Pianist Christopher O’Riley performs “Nocturne for Left Hand Alone” by Fred Hersch

Pianist Charlie Albright, 13, from Centralia, WA, performs Taccotta by Gian Carlo Menotti

Violin Virtuosi performs “Hoedown” from Rodeo (closing of the program)
