On the Road with Joanne Robinson: Show #248 Ogden, Utah

We were in Ogden, Utah last week to tape a show at Weber State University’s Austad Auditorium.  Ogden was gorgeous, surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains.

The taping included some truly outstanding performances. Opening the show was 17-year-old oboist Nick Tisherman who played Mozart and went on to talk about his clarinet-playing family and the challenges of having an identical twin brother.

Next up was the dynamic duo of 13-year-old violinist Aubree Oliverson and 14-year-old pianist Anastasia Magamedova playing the finale from the Violin Concerto in D major, Op.35 by Peter Illyich Tchaikovsky. These two are BFFs and I don’t think it would possible for them to be more adorable.

Following the duo was an incredibly talented 17-year-old soprano, Hannah Urias, who stunned the audience with her performance of “Quando m’en vo” from Puccini’s “La Boheme.”

Next up was the Meshugene Quartet (I love that name!), a group of teens from Chicago who performed V. Allegrofrom the String Quartet No.9 in E-flat, Op.117, by Dmitri Shostakovich. We caught their electrifying performance in its entirety on video and we plan to post that online for you when the show goes live!
Closing the show was a wonderful young pianist, 14-year-old Trenton Chang, who played from the Sonatine by Maurice Ravel and spoke about outdoor life in Utah.
