Co-compose a brand new piece of music with us!
In celebration of #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, we’re excited to be commissioning a new piece of music from alum Karalyn Schubring!
This commission is a bit…different from what you might expect, in that Karalyn can’t write this piece alone.
She needs notes!
Here’s where you come in
Every dollar donated to our #Note4Note Campaign gives her one note to use in her composition.
Help Karalyn complete her new composition by the end of #GivingTuesday on November 27 by making a tax-deductible gift today. Learn more by checking out our FAQ’s below.
Thank you for taking part in this worldwide giving movement and for believing in the power of new music in the hands of young musicians.

FAQs
What does #Note4Note mean?
Note4Note is our way of saying that for every one dollar (“note”), Karalyn gets a note to write her piece with.
The hashtag in front helps us organize all our #Note4Note posts across social media. Try searching for #Note4Note in Facebook or Twitter to follow this year’s campaign or see last year’s posts!
Why is it preferred that I donate through Facebook?
The advantages of donations being made through Facebook is that the campaign becomes more visible, hopefully making it more likely others will see and give!
If you have a Facebook account, then you can choose to make your donation public to friends, or even share the campaign with them.
If you’d rather not give through Facebook, please consider sharing the campaign with your friends after you’ve made your gift.
Thank you
Will my donation of $20 or under really help?
Absolutely! Your gift, no matter how small or large, does make an impact in the lives of our young performers.
The majority of the funds raised through the #Note4Note campaign will be used directly to fund our mission of celebrating the power of music in the hands of extraordinary young people.
The only exception to this commitment will be a token of appreciation to composer Karalyn Schubring for her participation in this special project.
If you’re looking for an easy way to multiply your impact, a smaller donation made monthly is a convenient option.
Join the hundreds of other donors who make gifts of $20 or under today.
What other ways can I get involved?
Much like #GivingTuesday, this campaign is fueled by social media and engagement. You can make an impact by sharing this page with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, or other platforms you use. When you do, please include the hashtag #Note4Note in your post so your friends can see related information.
Contact us at aboyer@fromthetop.org if you’d like to learn more about how you can help Karalyn finish her piece before #GivingTuesday.
What is the fundraising goal?
Our fundraising goal for the #Note4Note Campaign is $10,000.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. From the Top is a charitable organization, all donations are tax-deductible.
What is #GivingTuesday?
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
Do I get to choose which notes I "donate"?
While the idea of donors hand-selecting their notes is a fantastically cool one, we thought that might make Karalyn’s life a little too difficult – she’s a full-time student at the University of Michigan, after all!
What happens after the campaign finishes on #GivingTuesday?
Once we meet our goal by the end of the day on #GivingTuesday, we get to record the piece, turn it into a music video, and share it with the world! That’ll likely happen around the end of the year.
And we’ll share it exclusively to our donors first :)
How will my gift be acknowledged?
All donors will be listed in the credits at the end of the final music video! Watch last year’s music video here.
Donations may also be made anonymously if desired.
Could my employer match my gift for this campaign?
They sure could! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees and/or employees’ spouses. If your company has a Human Resources department, that’s a good place to start.
