Meet Wilson
Wilson’s From the Top episode will air nationally the week of May 25, 2026. He recently spoke about his experience on From the Top.
Wilson Liu (piano), 11, lives in Livingston, New Jersey where he attends Hillside Elementary School.
At the age of 7, he was admitted to The Juilliard School Pre-College Division, where he won the Bachauer Prize with full scholarship and Concerto Competition. Now he is studying with Hung-Kuan Chen and Tema Blackstone.
Wilson was nominated into the Artemisia Foundation where he’s received many opportunities to perform and work with great pedagogues, include Jerome Lowenthal, Veda Kaplinsky, Misha Voskressenski, and accompanied opera star, Leah Hawkins, etc. He participated in a film for “Now Hear This” presented by Great Performances on PBS. He also as the youngest guest, enjoyed performing with The Little Orchestra Society Kids.
Since his earliest training, Wilson has won numerous piano competitions, including the Grand Prize in the XIV Chopin Piano Competition Hartford. In the competitions of Kaufman Music Center International Youth, Chicago international, etc., Wilson won top awards and garnered high accolades. Recently, he won International Young Artist Concerto Competition and DePaul CMD National Concerto Competition, and performed with Seen Worldwide, NPO and Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago.
Wilson thoroughly enjoys the growth and fun he experiences as he prepares for his performances, and he always looks forward to learning from his fellow pianists.
