Victoria S. Bis (piano), 16, hails from Dallas, Texas. She began her musical journey at the age of three and a half and has been under the mentorship of Yifan Liu at Studio for Piano Arts since then. She has also attended masterclasses with renowned pianists, including Dang Thai Son, Lydia Artymiw, Michail Markov, Mikhail Voskresensky, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Vanessa Latarche, and Gabriel Kwok. In the course of her piano studies, Victoria has received numerous awards, including the grand prize at 2024 Chicago International Music Competition in the under professional group; finalist for 2024 Kaufman International Piano Competition; participant for 2024 Southeastern Piano Festival; third prize at the sixth Weatherford College International Piano Competition; the national winner of the 2023 MTNA-Kawai America Junior Piano Competition in Reno, Nevada; first place at North Texas Young Artist Piano Competition 2024 (Category five, Grade 11-12); third place at both 2024 and 2022 Emory University Young Artist Piano Competitions; third place and the Special Press Award at the 11th International Piano Competition in Netherland in 2022; second place at 2021 Houston International Music Competition; third place at 2021 Spotlight International Piano Competition; first prize in the Steinway Junior Piano Competition in 2019; and first place at Dallas Symphonic Festival Competition since 2018. She made her debut with Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (“FWSO”) in 2022 after winning the grand prize in 2022 Young Artist Competition held by FWSO. Victoria also often plays at events for non-profits and with the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra (DAAYO) as part of their chamber music program. Outside of academics and piano, Victoria also engages in helping and giving back to her community; she is part of the Mind-full of Music organization which volunteers at senior living communities to spread the joy of music, and she contributes her cash awards from piano competitions to non-profits such as the North Texas Food Bank and DAAYO. She also enjoys reading, traveling, writing short stories, taekwondo, and attempting to cook.
