Trey Pernell (composer), 17, is from Denver, Colorado, where he attends East High School and studies with Patricia Chen. He is a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. As a composer, he counts Beethoven, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Brahms and Gorillaz as inspirations. He sings in his schoolÕs honors choir and vocal jazz group, and plays in his schoolÕs jazz band and in a rock band called Running Lights. Outside of music, he enjoys breakdancing.
