Meet Rashmi

Rashmi performs on Show 475.

Rashmi Chelliserry (flute), 17, is a flutist from San Diego, California, where she studies with Dr. Elena Yarritu. She has previously studied with Vivian Bergova and Dr. September Payne. Rashmi has been playing the flute for nine years and has earned recognition at the regional, state, and international levels. Rashmi won 2nd prize in the American Protégé International Concerto Competition, performing a solo at Carnegie Hall in New York, and placed 3rd in the MTAC VOCE State Intermediate Winds Competition. She was also an MTAC Panel Finalist, selected as one of the top two flutists in the state, and has been chosen for the California All-State Honor Band and the Northern California Flute Camp.

Rashmi currently performs with the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra and serves as Flute Section Leader at Westview High School, where she mentors a section of 20 flutists. She has participated in masterclasses with esteemed artists including Jill Felber (UCSB), Marianne Gedigian (Rice University), and John Thorne (Northwestern University).

Outside of music, Rashmi enjoys playing board games with her family, practicing yoga, and reading fantasy novels.
