Meet Phillip

Phillip Hammond (violin), 17, is a homeschooled senior from Bloomington, Indiana and a recipient of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. He currently studies violin with Mimi Zweig at the Indiana University String Academy, after previously studying with Brenda Brenner. Phillip has performed as a soloist with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra and the New World Youth Symphony Orchestra and served as concertmaster for a special side-by-side performance with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. At Indiana University, Phillip has served as concertmaster of the String Academy Chamber Orchestra, studied chamber music with Susan Moses, and toured Argentina as a member of the acclaimed Violin Virtuosi. Phillip also enjoys playing soccer and chess, studying history, running, and playing the piano.
