Meet Maria

Maria Sanderson, 17, is from Morgantown, Indiana, and studies violin with Mimi Zweig as part of Indiana University’s Pre-College String Academy. She placed first in the SE Missouri University Rising Star Competition and third in the Sphinx Competition. She has also served as the concertmaster of the IU String Academy Chamber Orchestra, performing with it as a soloist on occasions. She accompanied the principal dancer of the Moscow Ballet during their performance of Nutcracker in Indianapolis. Outside of music, she loves painting and riding horses.
