Mallika Sheshadri (violin), 18, from Altadena, California, is a senior at Pasadena High school and studies with Aimée Kreston at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, where she also plays violin and viola in the chamber music program. She’s played in masterclasses for Catherine Coseby, Ryan Meehan, Roberto Cani, Dennis Kim and Moni Simeonov, and has won top honors in the Dan Stover Rotary competition, the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, the MTAC VOCE competition and the Glendale MTAC Concerto competition. Recently, she performed the Chausson Poéme with the Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra as the winner of their concerto competition. She is concertmaster of the Pasadena Youth Symphony Philharmonic and is the winner of their concerto competition. During the summers, she has participated in the Sounding Point Academy at the Colburn School, Interlochen Arts Camp, and the Chamber Music Intensive at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. As a fellow in From the Top’s Musicians and the Environment Initiative, she is working with the conservancy group AltadenaWILD on using music to raise awareness for the delicate ecosystems of Southern California. In addition to music, she loves science, especially astronomy, as well as reading, long walks, and playing with her dog, Noodle.
