Meet Lia

LIA PIKUS, 17, has been playing cello since she was seven years old. She is currently a senior at Hanover High in New Hampshire, and is studying with Emileigh Vandiver of New England Conservatory Prep in Boston. She is a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and was previously a member of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, where she studied with Astrid Schween. In the summer of 2016, Lia attended the Meadowmount School of Music to study with Jonathan Koh, performed in Carnegie Hall for a second time with her orchestra, and went on tour in Spain. Lia is a member of an A cappella group at her high school, a faculty-elected peer leader, and a member of the organization She’s the First which supports the education of young women in developing nations. Outside of music, Lia enjoys trail running, writing, and learning languages.
