Juhee Kim, viola
Meet Juhee
Juhee performs on Show 450.
Juhee Kim (viola), 17, from Palisades Park, New Jersey, began playing the viola in seventh grade. She has studied under Jinyoung Park Kim in the Mannes School of Music pre-college division (Mannes Prep) for six years. She is a Clara Mannes Scholar and currently performs as the principal violist in the Mannes Prep Philharmonic.
Juhee has been awarded the opportunity to participate in prestigious programs like NYO2 in 2022 and NYO-USA in 2023, showcasing her exceptional talent on a national stage. Her commitment has also been recognized by the YoungArts Foundation – selecting Juhee as a Merit Winner in 2022. That same year, she was given the opportunity to attend the prestigious Boston University Tanglewood Institute summer program.
Beyond the stage, Juhee strives for positive change in her community. Her commitment to service has earned her the Presidential Volunteer Service Award not once, but twice, accumulating 450 service hours. As a response to the needs in her community, she also initiated a volunteer Korean teaching program, raising funds for a small library and scholarships for low-income families. The program also provides essential school supplies for students in need.
Receiving the Award will allow Juhee to purchase a new bow, cover remaining tuition fees at Mannes Prep, pay for private lessons, and cover travel and lodging fees for her upcoming college auditions.
