Jack Kessler (viola), 18, from Miami, FL is pursuing his Bachelor of Music degree at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA with Roberto Diaz. He previously studied with Richard Fleischman at the New World School of the Arts and Michael Klotz from the Florida International University. He has performed side by side on violin and viola with the fellows of the New World Symphony, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas from 2015-2019. He was awarded a National YoungArts Foundation finalist in 2019 and has performed in masterclasses with distinguished artists such as Teng Li, principal violist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Cynthia Phelps, professor of viola at The Juilliard School and principal violist of the New York Philharmonic. Jack has performed at many summer festivals including Center Stage Strings in Ann Arbor, MI, Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, ME, and the Perlman Music Program in Shelter Island, NY. Outside of music, Jack enjoys photography, sports, geography, food, arts and culture, and travel.
