Meet Isabelle

Isabelle performs on Show 434.

Isabelle Bruening (piano), 17, is currently a senior at Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Wilmington, Delaware. She began piano lessons at the age of 5, studying in both the US and Germany, and is currently a student of Professor Marie-Christine Delbeau at the University of Delaware. She is a member of the Cab Calloway Piano Honors Society as well as a founding member of the Delaware division of the Back to Bach Project.

Isabelle recently performed the first movement of Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor as the first-place winner of the Delaware Concerto Competition. In 2021, she was awarded the Coastal Concerts Dorothy and Elizabeth Music Scholarship and invited to open a concert at the Coastal Concerts venue in Lewes, Delaware. She attended the Interlochen Arts Camp in 2021, where she was invited to represent the piano program at the annual show Collage, and spent the past summer at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute.

Outside piano, Isabelle loves stationery, museums, and food. She plans to pursue a career in the social sciences alongside piano performance.

Receiving the Award will support Isabelle in private lesson tuition, as well as cover costs for Isabelle to attend summer programs in 2023.
