Hailey Culp, piano
Meet Hailey
Hailey Culp (piano), 17, is currently in her senior year at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, studying with Kara Huber. Hailey began her piano studies at the age of five in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, under the tutelage of Ping Xu. Over the years, Hailey has earned numerous awards, including prizes from the Georgia Music Teachers Association’s solo and duet divisions, the Music Teachers National Association, the Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition, and the Vertex International Concerto Competition. She made her Carnegie Hall debut at the age of nine and has since been invited to perform at venues such as the Woodruff Arts Center and Spivey Hall in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium. As the winner of the Ruth Kern Young Artists Concerto Competition, Hailey made her orchestral debut in 2024, performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
An active chamber musician, Hailey has performed with multiple ensembles – most recently as the pianist of Trio Voci, with whom she advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Fischoff Competition and recorded works by Beethoven and Shostakovich for Interlochen Public Radio’s Studio A. She has also participated in masterclasses with distinguished artists such as Olga Kern, Emanuel Ax, Robert McDonald, Logan Skelton, and the Ying, Dover, and Harlem String Quartets. In the summers, she has had the opportunity to enhance her studies at festivals such as the Brevard Music Center, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Georgia’s Governor’s Honors Program.
When she is not performing, Hailey enjoys accompanying fellow musicians and teaching piano. Outside of music, she loves reading classical literature, taking long walks, and learning new recipes at home.
Receiving the award will support Hailey’s tuition and studies at the Interlochen Arts Academy and will also cover her upcoming college audition travel and lodging expenses.
