Meet Evan

Evan performed in the From the Top Band’s “Feel the Light” music video, recorded in April 2015. Evan Hsu also appeared on Show 274, recorded in 2013, as part of the Brioso Trio, at age 11.

2015 bio:

Evan Hsu is from Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where he attends William H. Lincoln School. Evan studies with Laura Blustein of the New England Conservatory. Evan has won the first prize in the Brookline Youth Orchestra concerto competition, received a gold medal for the MMEA Eastern District Solo & Ensemble Festival, and received 2nd place in the Roman Totenberg Competition. The Brioso Trio has performed on From the Top and won second place in the sixth International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition. Evan is also part of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of NEC. He has performed at Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, and the Museum of Fine Arts.

Aside from his cello career, he and his former choir PALS/Voices Boston has performed at Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Evan was also part of the opera A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Boston Lyric Opera.

Outside of music, Evan is enjoys playing basketball and is interested in math and science.
