Meet Ethan
Ethan performs on Show 475.
Ethan Zhou (violin), 17, hails from San Diego, California and is a junior at Del Norte High School. He began studying violin at age 5 and currently studies with Michael Tseitlin. He has earned top prizes in major competitions, including the VOCE State String Solo and Ensemble Competitions, 1st place in the 2024 La Jolla Emerging Artists Competition, and 1st place the MTAC San Diego Concerto Competition in both the Junior and Senior divisions. An active member of the San Diego music community, Ethan’s musical artistry grew through years with the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra, and since 2023, he has been a member of the San Diego Youth Symphony, where he serves as principal second violin of the Symphony Orchestra.
Ethan has participated in community outreach programs and is launching Crescendo Kids, a project bringing music education and performance opportunities to underprivileged neighborhoods. Ethan has also attended several national music programs, including NYO2, Interlochen Arts Camp, the Montecito International Music Festival, and the Disney Concert Hall Summer Concerts, where he studied with world-class teachers and collaborated with peers from across the country.
