Erica performs on Show 431.

Erica Wang (flute), 17, hails from San Diego, California, and is a senior at Canyon Crest Academy. She studies flute with Pam Martchev of San Diego State University. In 2022, Erica was one of four flutists selected to play in the National Youth Orchestra of the USA (NYO-USA), where she toured Europe and performed as principal flutist under the direction of Daniel Harding. Previously, Erica was the second place winner of the National Flute Association’s High School Soloist Competition and the recipient of the Deveau Scholarship for Best Performance of Commissioned Work. Erica is the principal flutist of the San Diego Youth Symphony and has also been invited to the National Youth Orchestra 2 (NYO2), the Idyllwild Summer Symphony Orchestra, the California All-Southern Wind Symphony, and several flute workshops including Beyond the Masterclass and the Domaine Forget International Music Festival.

Outside of performing, Erica shares her love for music through leading the Carmel Valley Summer Symphony (CVSS), a student-run non-profit organization providing free and accessible music education for students across San Diego. With 300+ student enrollment, CVSS has helped raise over $5000 for local school music programs. Erica is also a synchronized figure skater at Team Del Sol, and she enjoys hiking, travel, and photography.
