Meet Yuxuan (Daniel)

Yuxuan (Daniel) Ma (horn), 17, is originally from Beijing, China, and currently lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He attends Walnut Hill School for the Arts and studies with the former second horn of the Cleveland Orchestra, Eli Epstein, at New England Conservatory Preparatory School. Daniel is a member of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Honors Wind Quintet at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and was also one of four finalists in Category C of the NEC Concerto Competition in 2023. In 2023, he also won third prize in the Boston Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. He has participated in the Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artist Orchestra (2022) and Woodwind Quintet Workshop (2023), where he was coached by composer and flutist Valerie Coleman.
