Brayden Miao (piano), 16, hails from Springfield, Missouri and studies piano with Dr. Hye-Jung Hong and Dr. Wei-Han Su.Brayden’s accolades include being the 2022-23 US State and Division winner and a national finalist in the MTNA Junior Piano Competition, securing first place in both the 2023 Charleston International Classical Music Competition and the 2022 London Classical Music Competition (LCMC) Junior Artist category, and earning third place in the 2023 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. Additionally, Brayden has won second prize at the 2022 Memphis International Piano Competition, reached the semi-finals in the 2022 Seattle International Piano Festival & Competition and the 2022 Spotlight International Piano Competition, clinched first place in the 2021 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, the 2020 Gloria Artis International Piano Competition, and the 2019 Steinway Young Artist Competition in Lawrence, Kansas. His talent was also recognized as a four-time winner of MMTA (Missouri Music Teachers Association) piano competition during 2016-2020. In 2021, Brayden showcased his remarkable skill with a solo performance at Carnegie Hall and was selected to participate in the Texas State International Piano Festival. He further solidified his status as a leading young pianist by winning the first prizes in the Young Artist and Professional categories at the 2023 and 2024 IPPA Conero International Piano Competition and Festival.

In addition to the piano, Brayden is a skilled violinist. He won the 2016 MMTA strings competition and received an honorable mention in the 2021 MMTA strings competition. He also performed with the 2024 Missouri All-state Orchestra, where he played as a first violin under the guidance of Dr. David Hays.

Outside of music, Brayden has also excelled in swimming. He is a national team member of the SPA (Springfield Aquatics) swim club, achieving the Futures Championships cut in the 100 meter breaststroke in 2024.
