Brahin Ahmaddiya, clarinet
Meet Brahin
Brahin Jamal Ahmaddiya (clarinet), 17, from from Drexel Hill, PA, is currently a senior at Upper Darby High School. He first picked up the clarinet at the age of nine, studying under Evan Kilgore at Settlement Music School’s Wynnefield branch. Brahin now attends Settlement Music School’s Mary Louise Curtis branch and studies under Dr. Rié Suzuki. He is a member of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and the Philadelphia Music Alliance for Youth (PMAY), a pathways program aiding young musicians historically excluded in the
classical music field.
Brahin won his first award–“Outstanding Instrumentalist”–from his elementary school at the end of fifth grade. Since then, he has gone on to win the Luca del Negro Youth Soloist Competition and the Founding Forward “Good Citizenship Award”.
Receiving the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award will allow Brahin to upgrade his clarinet, as well as cover the cost of college audition travel and summer festival attendance for the coming summer of 2025.
