Ayana Terauchi (flute), 17, is from Midland, Michigan, where she is a senior at H.H. Dow High School, and studies with Amy Porter at the University of Michigan. She performs with the Michigan Symphony Youth Orchestra, as well as the orchestra and band at her high school. She has won first prize in the Music Teachers National Association Senior Woodwind Competition as well as the National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition. In addition, she has played for teachers such as Jeanne Galway, David Buck, and Alberto Almarza. Outside of music, Ayana enjoys exercising, hanging out with friends, and listening to recordings.
