Meet Ashley (Jiye)
Ashley (Jiye) Roh (oboe), is 16 and is a junior at Dana Hall School. She started to get into music at the age of 10, the age when she first started playing the oboe. She studies oboe with Catherine Weinfield and also plays in the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (YPO) at New England Conservatory Preparatory School. This summer, she toured to Norway with YPO. Ashley received a platinum medal for both the 2013 and 2014 KIMEA Solo Competition and also had a performance opportunity in the 2014 KICC/KAMP Annual Concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall. She played with the Red Cross Youth, Holtz Klang, Peace Tree Ensemble, and From the Top’s Center for the Development of Arts Leaders to perform in nursing homes, hospitals, and orphanages. She is currently the oboist in the New England Conservatory Prep’s Honors Woodwind Quintet. Other than music, Ashley enjoys playing tennis.
