Alejandra Sarmiento (piano), 14, is an eighth grade student at Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove, Florida. She is a recipient of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. She studies piano with Maria Gomez and has won top prizes at several international, state, and local competitions. She has soloed with the Miami Symphony Orchestra under conductor Eduardo Marturet, and performed at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall in New York City. Alejandra is a Davidson Young Scholar. She loves to study Mandarin and enjoys playing with her school beach volleyball team.
